Frequently Asked Questions

1How high is Cusco?

Cusco sits at 3,399 meters 11,152 above sea level. It is significantly higher, so it is essential to acclimate properly by resting and staying hydrated. Additionally, avoiding heavy meals or alcohol on the first day is important.

2How physically demanding is the tour?

The tour involves moderate to challenging activities, including hiking at high altitudes, walking up stone steps, and riding ATVs. Some parts, such as the trek to Rainbow Mountain and Humantay Lake, can be tough, but they are manageable with good preparation.

3How long does the Machu Picchu visit last?

The guided tour lasts about 2 hours, during which we will explore the main ruins, terraces, and temples. Afterward, you will have free time to take photos of Machu Picchu at your own pace.

4What is the best time of year to take this tour?

The dry season (April to October) is the best time for visiting Cusco, Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain. During this period, you can enjoy clearer skies and lower rainfall. However, the wet season (November to March) has fewer crowds and lush green landscapes, though there may be occasional rain.

5Is altitude sickness a concern?

Yes, altitude sickness can affect travelers due to Cusco’s high elevation. We recommend acclimating on Day 1, drinking coca tea, staying hydrated, and eating light meals.

This is the best way to explore Cusco and the surrounding wonders. Each day brought a new adventure. My favorite ones were the archaeological sites in the Sacred Valley and the incredible Machu Picchu ruins. The city tour of Cusco was also fascinating, especially Qoricancha and Sacsayhuamán. We felt safe and well cared for the entire time.

The tour was well-paced, allowing us to enjoy each stop without being rushed. The guides were professional and passionate about Peruvian history.
The Humantay Lagoon was one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever seen, and the ATV hike to Rainbow Mountain was exhilarating! Everything, from the transportation to the food, was very well organized. We would do it again!
