Day 1Cusco – KM 104 – Wiñay Wayna – Aguas Calientes

We will pick you up from your hotel between 5:00 and 5:30 AM. and travel to Ollantaytambo. There, we will board the train to kilometer 104, the starting point of our trek. Upon arrival, we will visit Chachabamba, an archaeological site at 2,250 meters. This site served as an Inca religious and agricultural center.

We will admire ancient terraces still used for farming, Our hike will begin with a steady uphill climb through lush cloud forests. We will follow a well-preserved stone path with stunning views of the Urubamba River (Vilkamayu). Along the way, we will see vibrant orchids and exotic birds.

After hiking for three hours, we will reach Wiñay Wayna at 2,650 meters sea level. This impressive Inca site features cascading terraces, temples, and ceremonial fountains. Our guide will explain its history and significance. After exploring, we will walk 20 more minutes to the nearby lodge, where we will enjoy a well-deserved lunch.

We will continue hiking towards Inti Punku (Sun Gate) at 2,720 meters, the original entrance to Machu Picchu. From here, we will see the breathtaking citadel for the first time. After admiring the view, we will descend towards Aguas Calientes, reaching the town in the early evening. We will check into our hotel and have free time to visit the hot springs.

Day 2Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco

We will wake up early and take the first bus to Machu Picchu, arriving before sunrise. As we ascend, we will see the ruins emerging from the mist. Upon arrival, we will enter the site and begin a guided tour of approximately two hours.

Our guide will take us to Machu Picchu’s top spots, like the Temple of the Sun, Intihuatana stone, and Royal Quarters. We will explore the sacred plazas and admire the advanced engineering of the Incas. After the tour, we will have free time to take photos and soak in the mystical atmosphere.

In the afternoon, we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes. We will then board the train to Ollantaytambo, enjoying scenic views of the Sacred Valley.
