We will start in Cusco, heading towards Mollepata, where breathtaking views of the Apurímac Valley will amaze us. Our trail will lead to Soraypampa, a stunning highland campsite at 3,900 meters. We will visit Humantay Lake, a turquoise gem surrounded by towering peaks. A restful night under the Andean sky will prepare us for the next challenge.

We will ascend toward the Salkantay Pass at 4,650 meters sea level, the trek’s highest point. The trail will reward us with astonishing views of the snow-capped Salkantay Mountain. After crossing the pass, we will descend into the lush cloud forest, reaching Challway for a well-deserved rest. The climate will shift dramatically as we leave the Andean heights behind.

Our journey will continue through the tropical landscapes of Playa Sahuayaco, where we will encounter coffee and fruit plantations. Day 1Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa

We will start the Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu with private transportation from Cusco to Mollepata. Along the way, we will admire the breathtaking landscapes of the Apurímac Valley. After a short stop, we will continue to Soraypampa, located at 3,900 meters (12,795 feet). This high-altitude campsite offers incredible views of Salkantay Mountain and Humantay Mountain.

In the afternoon, we will hike to Humantay Lake, a stunning turquoise lagoon surrounded by snow-capped peaks. The ascent will challenge us, but the view will make it worthwhile. We will return to Soraypampa for a warm dinner and rest under the star-filled Andean sky.

The breathtaking scenery will include massive glaciers and rugged peaks. After taking pictures and resting, we will descend into the cloud forest, where the landscape will turn lush and green.

As we walk, we will see waterfalls, exotic birds, and vibrant orchids. The temperature will gradually become warmer as we reach Challway, a peaceful spot surrounded by nature. After a long day, we will enjoy a well-earned dinner before resting.

After lunch, we will take private transportation to Santa Teresa, famous for its natural hot springs. We will have time to relax in the warm thermal waters before enjoying a delicious dinner. This day will be easier, allowing us to recover before the final approach to Machu Picchu Mountain.

The Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu was breathtaking! Salkantay Pass was tough but rewarding.

The campsites were well organized, and the meals exceeded expectations. Seeing Machu Picchu at the end of the trek made it all worth it. Highly recommend this experience!
